Summer Camp FAQs

What ages of children do you accept in your summer camp?

Our summer camps are designed for children ages 3-8. Two-year-olds who have been enrolled at Spanish Schoolhouse during the prior school year may also attend.

How do I enroll my child?

Registration for summer camp opens each year in February. Camp enrollment is available on a first-come, first-served basis and payment is required to secure your child’s spot.

When you are ready to enroll, create a family profile here, add your student(s) to the account, and then click “Enroll” to select your program!

What does “Spanish Immersion” mean?

In our Spanish immersion camps, your child will be surrounded by the Spanish language throughout the camp day, enabling him/her to absorb and learn the language through natural interactions of camp games, activities, music, and more. In an immersion environment, conversation is key!!

My child does not know any Spanish. Won’t they be confused?

We welcome all levels of Spanish, from beginner to experienced! Our camps are active and hands-on environments where all students can join in the fun, regardless of their level of Spanish.

Our goal is to encourage the love of the Spanish language. Since all of our daily activities are conducted in Spanish, we use various strategies to help all the children understand, regardless of their level. Teachers “act out” what they are saying, use visual materials as cues, and incorporate songs with motions for the various words. If the teacher ever doubts that the children understand something, she will briefly explain in English and then continue in Spanish, to be sure that no child is lost or confused.

What should my child wear to camp?

We recommend that campers wear clothes and shoes that are comfortable for lots of activity!

Do I need to send my child with a lunch?

Yes, please send a packed lunch for your child each day. A morning snack will be provided, as well as an afternoon snack for extended day campers. Optional pizza days may be offered on Fridays. You will be notified by email of these days.

Will campers have outside play time?

We try to get campers outside for a short play time each day, weather permitting. If the ozone level is green, campers will go out in the morning and afternoon (if enrolled in extended care). If the ozone level is yellow, they will go out in the morning only. For red ozone days, campers will not have outside play. Please apply sunscreen before camp each day!
